What are the benefits of botox injections?

Although BOTOX® was originally created to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles that develop in the facial area due to aging, after ample research doctors have discovered that BOTOX® has a variety of other medical applications and benefits.

1. Reducing and Preventing Facial Wrinkles

To get rid of wrinkles and fine lines, BOTOX® is injected into the muscles that are usually the underlying cause of wrinkles. This allows the muscles to relax around the injection site, making the skin smooth again and reducing the amount of wrinkles.

2. Correcting Eye Conditions

BOTOX® can also be used to correct physical eye problems such as Lazy eyes, strabismus (crossed-eyes), and blepharospasm (rapid eye blinking). The neurotoxin in the BOTOX® serum also stops the effects of eye twitching and squinting that’s oftentimes a symptom of stress and muscle weakness.

3. Stop Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating, also referred to as hyperhidrosis, doesn’t always stop once you start using antiperspirant. While deodorants are a recommended first line of defense against excessive sweating, if you’re still experiencing issues there is hope!

This treatment not only helps with the effects of hyperhidrosis, but it can also reverse the effects of stress sweat as well. It has a way of blocking acetylcholine, the chemical in the body that activates the sweat glands. It is specifically successful in areas of the body that are more prone to sweating like armpits. For long-term relief, it is advised that patients in Nashville seek additional injections as needed to maintain the results.

4. Incontinence Treatment

BOTOX® is generally a last resort for overactive bladder treatment. However, if other treatments prove to be ineffective, then your doctor may recommend BOTOX® injections to reduce incontinence due to overactive bladder.

5. Relief for Migraines

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been cleared by the FDA for the treatment of migraines. The neurotoxin used in the BOTOX® serum will start to affect the nerves and prevent both muscle tension responses and pain transmission that comes from headaches.

How Long Does It Take To See Results From Botox Migraine Treatments?

Normally it takes a few treatments for full results to set in. So you might not experience full relief from your migraines until the second or third treatment.

6. Treating Neck Spasms

Another benefit of BOTOX® injections is they can help to reduce the effects of a condition called cervical dystonia. This condition often occurs due to abnormal head positioning and usually leads to severe neck pain. BOTOX® prevents and reduces neck muscle spasms by inhibiting the nerves that cause the muscles to spasm.

7. Removing Visible Signs of Aging

One of the most common and well-recognized of all BOTOX® treatments, this serum has been shown to be effective at reducing the signs of aging, especially for reducing wrinkles. Specifically, BOTOX® injections prevent and reduce dynamic wrinkles by inhibiting the nerve signals that trigger facial expressions.

When you work with an aesthetician to set up an effective BOTOX® treatment plan you can see improvement with several types of facial wrinkles, including:

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

BOTOX® injections can also be paired with other cosmetic treatments to help rejuvenate your face, without ever having to have surgery. You can also pair your BOTOX® treatments with restorative dermal fillers like Juvederm.

Non-invasive injectables, such as BOTOX®, have truly become one of the best ways to gain the look of youthfulness and revitalization in a fast, effective, and affordable manner. Set up an appointment with Garza Plastic Surgery to start your anti-aging BOTOX® treatments.

8. Treating TMJ

BOTOX® has been approved for the treatment of TMJ since 2002. It’s been recognized as both safe and effective. The nerve-inhibiting properties of BOTOX® help people who suffer from TMJ to reduce and alleviate symptoms.

9. Reducing Joint Pain

If you’re experiencing undue amounts of joint pain, arthritis, or overuse pain, BOTOX® injections can help reduce the pain you’re experiencing.

10. Reducing the Appearance of Crow’s Feet

Finally, just like how BOTOX® injections can help reduce the signs of large dynamic wrinkles on your face, injectable treatments in Nashville will help reduce the signs of crow’s feet appearing around your eyes.

Other medical uses for botox injections

If you suffer from chronically cold hands, BOTOX® injections might be able to help. The injections will help the muscles in your hands relax so your blood vessels can dilate, and thus improve your circulation.

Additionally, BOTOX® can help treat the effects of Bell’s palsy, which is a condition that paralyzes the muscles in one side of your face.

These uses may not necessarily be addressed at a cosmetic surgery clinic, but your doctor may refer you to a plastic surgeon or aesthetician if they determine BOTOX® is the right treatment for your condition.

What is the most popular Botox treatment?

The most common areas to get botox are the forehead lines, crows feet and frown lines. You’ve probably heard of the forehead-frown lines referred to as 11s due to the prominent deep vertical wrinkles that can set in.

How much does botox cost in Nashville?

Botox is applied in units and differs patient-to-patient depending on how many units are necessary.. A consultation is necessary to find out a cost. Give us a call today to discuss.

How long does botox last?

The overall results of BOTOX® injections will differ depending on the patient. But, in general, the effects of BOTOX® can last anywhere from 3 to 5 months. First-time patients may see their results last as long as 6 months, while other patients may only notice results for as short as 2 months.

Keep in mind that BOTOX® treatments are part of an overall treatment plan, and not a one-and-done solution for fighting wrinkles. After your first treatment, you will need to set up regular follow-up appointments to maintain your results.

Does Botox have long term effects?

Technically, BOTOX® has benefits that fade after a few months. However, when you undertake a long term BOTOX® treatment plan, you can experience benefits from BOTOX® for a long period of time.

Long term use of botox has proven to effectively slow down the aging process compared to those who chose not to have botox or maintain botox treatments over time.

How long should I wait between botox injections?

When you decide to get regular BOTOX® treatments at Garza Plastic Surgery in Nashville, TN, you’ll work with either Dr. Garza or Tracey Robinson to create a customized treatment plan. Since the effects of BOTOX® start to fade after a few months, you’ll generally need to set up follow-up appointments every 3 months or so.

Is botox good for your face?

BOTOX® is a good option for preventing and reducing dynamic wrinkles on your face. By reducing the responsiveness of facial muscles, BOTOX® helps maintain a younger appearance. However, because the botulinum toxin works on the nerves under your skin, there’s no direct benefit for the quality of your skin.

If you’re looking for ways to improve your skin’s quality or fullness, ask your aesthetic expert about dermal fillers or collagen inducing treatments like microneedling with PRP (or exosomes), Morpheus8, IPLs and more.

What is a good age to get botox?

Are you wondering “at what age should I get Botox?” If you’ve started to notice wrinkles or have become  interested in preventing them, it may be time to start considering botox.

All FDA approved uses for BOTOX® are for adults age 18 and up. For cosmetic BOTOX® treatments, we see adults of all ages. Younger patients generally skew towards their mid-20s or early 30s to aid in helping reduce the signs of aging before they start. However, it’s almost never too late to start getting botox.

Can botox be natural looking?

Absolutely – and it’s not just about the amount of botox used. The best way to ensure a natural looking result is to trust your provider (or aesthetician) for how they inject botox. Finding a botox expert who is skilled in treating common skin issues, like signs of aging, can significantly change the results you can expect.

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner, like Tracey, who has been injecting Botox for years and keeps up to date with the latest seminars, training and techniques is an ideal provider to consult for Botox in Nashville.

Benefits of botox on the forehead

Say bye-bye to forehead lines and those deep 11s (vertical frown lines on your forehead).

The formulation of botox makes it applicable around many regions of the face. If you’re worried about the appearance of wrinkles appearing on your forehead, then botox injections can help reduce and smooth out those wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin injections have also been shown to treat a condition known as brow ptosis, where the skin of the brow begins to droop.

How botox works

To completely smooth out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, small measurements of BOTOX® are injected into the specific muscle of the problem area that is causing the wrinkling. The BOTOX® serum then relaxes the muscle by hindering all signals that are normally made from the nerve to muscle.

Once the injection is made, the muscle will no longer be able to contract–allowing the wrinkles to soften and over time, completely disappear. The most common areas for BOTOX® injections are normally located in the eyebrows area–where frown lines occur–and around the eyes–crow’s feet–and the forehead.

Most importantly, BOTOX® treatments are virtually painless. The most pain you will experience is the slight pinching as the needle is being injected into the skin. However, if you are someone who doesn’t fare well with needles or shots, be sure to talk to your specialist about your concerns.

In many cases, the specialists may be able to apply a topical numbing agent before the procedure. BOTOX® is truly a versatile procedure–for both men and women–that can treat a variety of medical and cosmetic issues.

What’s the difference between botox and microbotox?

Botox microdosing
MicroBotox
Microtoxin

The main difference between regular botox and botox microdosing is the depth and amount of botox injected. Botox microdosing is a diluted version of the typical botox that is used in the face. Botox is typically injected into the muscle layer of the face to help “freeze” the area to reduce and prevent wrinkles. Whereas botox microdosing injections are more superficial and spread out to treat a larger area for issues like skin crepiness.

The most common area for botox microdosing in our Nashville clinic has been with patients looking to reduce redness and wrinkles in the neck area. Our MicroBotox treatments have become a poplar add-on to many different aesthetic procedures like a PDO thread lift.
