What is microneedling?
Microneedling stimulates elastin and collagen production as a skin remodeling treatment for younger-looking skin. This can be done in combination with PRP, known as a ‘vampire facial’ or with radiofrequency using Morpheus8.
What is the point of microneedling?
Since this treatment uses tiny little microneedles, it naturally tricks the body (and face) into thinking it needs to heal itself. This process allows your body to reproduce elastin and collagen to give your skin a plump, smooth and youthful look – just as it did when it was consistently producing collagen (before the age of 25).
How does microneedling work?
At Garza Plastic Surgery, we use the Eclipse MicroPen™ for our microneedling treatments. This automated microneedling device creates controlled punctures in the skin that stimulate circulation and the natural production of collagen and elastin. These microchannels also stimulate the body’s natural healing response and allow topical skincare treatments to penetrate deeper into the skin. Microneedling treatments can help improve the appearance of fine lines, reduce the appearance of large pores and acne scarring, and improve the overall quality of the skin.
What areas can be treated?
How many treatments will I need?
We typically recommend a series of three to six treatments spaced approximately four to six weeks apart. Patients can also benefit from a single treatment once a year for regular maintenance as part of your skincare routine. If you are using micro-needling to improve deep wrinkles, stretch marks, or acne scarring we recommend six to eight treatments spaced about four to six weeks apart. The number of treatments can vary from patient to patient depending on the condition of your skin and your desired treatment results.
When will I see the results?
Many patients are able to see a radiant glow immediately following a treatment session. Visible results of micro-needling treatments take a few weeks to develop since your skin is improving from the cellular level. You will see continued improvement in your skin for up to six months after a treatment session as new collagen is produced.
What are the side effects?
Most patients experience redness, similar to a minor sunburn, in the treated area immediately following a treatment session. This redness is temporary and typically subsides within two to four days following a treatment session.

What are my options with microneedling?
Morpheus8 is microneedling with radio frequency in the needles. Microneedling alone is just needles, and works great! We treat a lot of patients with microneedling and get great results. However, oftentimes we’ll recommend microneedling + RF for patients when necessary.
What are microneedling treatments?
Treating your skin with microneedling makes your body/face that it’s injured so its going to start producing some collagen. But, the microneedling + radio frequency uses the needles plus a little zap at the end of the needles. So it’s essentially doubling down on the collagen and the elastin.
Will microneedling hurt?
Microneedling uses tiny little micro punctures to the skin in order to evoke the collagen production which can be uncomfortable. Tracey is known to her patients as someone who treats based on their specific skin goals and helps each individual make the best decision for them. She also helps alleviate any discomfort, pain or anxiety during treatments using Pro-Nox as an added benefit.
Microneedling + PRP Facial
Why add PRP to a microneedling treatment?
There is evidence that PRP can speed up healing and stimulate skin renewal, potentially leading to better results than with microneedling alone. By adding Platelet Rich Plasma to your treatment, the healing process can speed up. Adding a PRP treatment to microneedling has been shown to improve acne scars by over 62%.
What does microneedling with PRP treat?
Clients are seeking out microneedling with PRP treatments to improve their skin in multiple ways. This duel treatment facial can improve:
- Scarring from acne
- Scars in general, especially surgery scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Hyperpigmentation and dark spots
- Sun damage from overexposure
- Large, visible pores
- Uneven and rough skin texture
See how this patient was able to see miraculous results from microneedling for her acne scars! Every patient is different, especially when it comes to acne scars, so the best option is to have a professional aesthetician take a deeper look at what could be best for you – like fractora. Tracey has plenty of patients who have enjoyed the benefits of microneedling with and without ProNox (helps reduce any anxiety or pain). This is an added bonus when you have a microneedling treatment with us at Garza Plastic Surgery.
