Restylane® hit the aesthetic and cosmetic industries in 2005. Since then, it has been perfected and transformed into products that are increasingly being used in doctor’s offices across the country. Learn what Restylane® Silk is and for what cosmetic and aesthetic purposes it is used on patients today, especially at our center in Nashville, TN.

What Is Restylane® Silk?

Restylane® Silk is a new dermal filler that is made from non-animal based hyaluronic acid. It is intended to be used on the lips and around the mouth to fill out wrinkles, smooth skin, and erase signs of aging like laugh lines and nasolabial folds.

Part of what makes Restylane® Silk unique is that it contains lidocaine, which helps takes the sting out of the injections. It soothes and numbs the skin so that the injections are more comfortable.

The results of the injections are easy to maintain and can last anywhere from two weeks up to six months. Because it is made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in all living organisms, there is no need for an allergen test prior to using it.

Further, there is no recovery time needed after you receive your Restylane Silk injections. You can get back to your normal routine the same day without worries about side effects or potentially devastating risks to your health.

How are Restylane® Silk Injections Done?

Injections are performed on an outpatient basis right here in our office. Before you receive any injections, our specialist will clean the area to be treated with a medical grade antiseptic soap. This cleanser removes viruses and bacteria that could get into your skin and cause an infection.

We may then mark the areas where the injections will be given. Because Restylane® Silk already has lidocaine in it, you should not feel the injections. Nonetheless, we may also apply a topical numbing ointment to your skin to minimize any discomfort and to help you remain relaxed during the procedure.

After the treatment is finished, we will once again clean the treated area. You may be asked to remain in the office for 10 to 15 minutes so that you can be monitored for any adverse reactions to the injections. If you show no signs of allergies, you can go home and resume your normal activities. Fortunately, the risk of adverse reaction to Restylane® Silk is almost non-existent.

Restylane® Silk is one of the newest dermal fillers on the market, but it has already proven itself as a popular and effective filler for people looking to increase volume in their lips. This safe and effective hyaluronic acid filler offers immediate results and provides users with younger, smoother, fuller lips.

Restylane® Silk is just one of the many dermal fillers offered at Garza Plastic Surgery, located in Nashville, TN. Contact us today to schedule your consultation and find out if this treatment is right for you!
