Micropen Elite Nashville TN

Hi, this is Tracey…
I want to tell you a bit more about micro-needling. First, remember that most procedures that we do involve damaging the skin so that it regenerates in a more healthy fashion. Micro-Needling (also known as Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy or ECIT), is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of:
Fine lines
Acne scars, Traumatic scars
Brown spots or sun damage
Texture and tone
Stretch marks
The treatment uses controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. These injuries also create micro-channels which allow topical serums, like the Omni Growth Factor serum mentioned in my last e-blast, to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin. Your own PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) can also be used to infuse your very own Growth Factors.

WHAT AREAS OF THE BODY CAN I TREAT?
Micro-needling can be used on all parts of the body: Face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE DONE?
A sterile cartridge containing tiny micro-points is attached to the pen. Your skin will be numbed topically prior to the treatment and then cleansed with an antiseptic/antimicrobial skin cleanser. Either your own PRP, Omni Growth Factor serum, or Hyaluronic acid serum is applied to the skin or I gently press the pen to the skin while simultaneously gliding it in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. (See actual video in e-blast).

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
The feeling has been associated with that of sandpaper being moved across the skin or with a tickling sensation. Some areas can be more sensitive. Also, deeper scars and lines may need more depth penetration which can cause sensitivity. However, the speed of the tip makes the treatment more comfortable.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
Micro-needling takes about 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. And, remember, you will numb for approximately 20 minutes prior to the treatment.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the treatment parameters used and the number of overlapping passes I perform. Ideally, I like for you to leave the appointment and not put anything on your skin, but should your daily activities interrupt this, I will apply our Oxygenetix Foundation for safe coverage. On average, patients experience redness for 2-4 days, and some heal completely in 24 hours.

WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?
You will notice an immediate “glow” to your skin. Visible changes occur over the course of several weeks, and can continue to improve for up to 6 months.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
If your skin is in a good place, and you are challenging it with your ‘at home regimen’, some chemical peels or dermaplane treatments then a single treatment a year can suffice. But, let’s be realistic…that’s probably true if you are 20-23 years old with no sun damage, no lines, and no scarring. That being said, I recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-8 depending on the condition being treated and spaced about 6-8 weeks apart.
